Watching the users of mobile applications and studying their behavior, we can conclude that people do not like the complex design and slow performance of the program. Users hate to wait for starting the application or loading data and reading help for apps makes them sad. Remember when you last read a multi-page guide about the mobile app made by top ux agencies? I can’t think of any.
The concept of “instruction of use mobile app” does not exist. Users want immediately after installing the application, understand how it works. If this fails, they seek and install a more convenient tool. So we are talking about usability of mobile applications as an indispensable stage in the development of mobile applications. Without it, you miss several points: the loyalty, the installation, the “lifetime” of the application from the user.
Usability is a qualitative measure that determines the comfortability of the apps’ interface.
Usability is determined by a combination of factors that influence user experience:
- The efficiency — the speed and convenience of use for the decision of tasks of the user;
- Number of errors how often do users make errors when working with the application. The error rate and possibility of their correction;
- Ease of learning — how quickly a user can learn simple tasks and actions, if you see the application interface for the first time;
- Intuitive interface — how easy users can repeat the execution of a task or navigation sections of the application;
- Subjective perception — the aesthetic perception of users, they “like” working with application
Usability is the most important criteria in the evaluation of the interface. How to achieve maximum efficiency of applications? Make a list of tasks that will be performed most often. Give these tasks a high priority when designing application screens. Watch for existing users. Tasks from this list have to be fast and simple.
When working with devices that have small display, it is difficult to perceive large amounts of information from one “screen”, so it is recommended to create multiple “screens” and post the content on them. Make easy navigation between the application screens that the user clearly knew where he was, how he can come back and what he’s doing now.
When working with the application, we periodically begin to do other things, and then return to the app. The target is that at the time when the user returns to the app, he found himself in the same place where he had to stop and with the same data which he had entered.
The user should not have problems with the perception of information from the mobile application. The optimal font size for reading — your friend and assistant.
